ABOUT CARL ______

Born 1963 in Southampton, England Carl began playing in local rock bands at the age of fourteen. He was first exposed to jazz through the music of John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck and Pat Metheny and moved to southern France in 1985 to attend the IMFP jazz studies program in Salon de Provence.

After several years of playing and touring the south of France with various groups Carl moved to Galway, Ireland in 1990 where he quickly established himself as the ‘go to’ guitarist on the local scene playing in various combinations and ensembles ranging from solo performances to big band, including a five year residency with the legendary Kings Head band.

In 1998 Carl moved to New York where he has been performing with small combos around the NY metropolitan area and has maintained long-standing residencies at the Chelsea Market and Mae Mae café.

Carl has also recorded and co-produced 3 CDs with singer songwriter Honor Finnegan including ‘The Tiny Life’ which went to number 9 on the US Folk DJ charts in 2012.

Since spring of 2015 Carl has been playing with the Organic Groove Project, an organ trio with Jim Neuman on organ and Gregg Sulzer on drums.
